About Me

Hello and welcome! My name is Brittany Whitehead, M.A., LPC Associate supervised by Brandi M Smith, Ph.D., LPC-S, and I would love for you to sit here with me awhile so I can tell you a bit about myself and my practice.

In addition to being a counselor, I also love reading, dragons, and tattoos. I’ve been married for almost 14 years, am a neurodivergent mother of four, and someone who has been on her own journey through the labyrinth of life with a little help from therapy, coffee, and good books.

I primarily operate from an emotion-focused therapy (EFT) perspective, in which I have a level 1 training certificate and utilize ACT techniques. EFT is rooted in attachment theory, so focusing on attachment styles is essential to promote growth and change. I also merge in concepts from internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and existential therapy whenever possible. I’m wholeheartedly and passionately person-centered, meaning that no matter who or where you are, I’ll meet you with compassion, understanding, and a commitment to helping you become your best self.

Being a neurodivergent mother to four kiddos, one of whom is also neurodivergent (team AuDHD!), I know firsthand what it’s like to juggle the unending chaos as well as the beauty of life and parenthood. Having dealt with my own depression and anxiety, I’ve had my share of struggles. But those experiences allow me to connect with and truly see others walking similar paths. I’m here to partner with those who are neurodiverse, mothers navigating the constant ups and downs of motherhood, and individuals dealing with depression and anxiety to help them find their balance and strength.

I also love working with children (ages 3+) using child-centered and synergetic therapeutic play techniques.  It’s truly so incredible to witness the growth children can experience through the power of play. Additionally, I am honored to join with individuals who are navigating various faith-related struggles, particularly those questioning or shifting their beliefs in ways that may lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, or depression. This can sometimes be a painful and confusing process, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’ll be here, walking beside you—no judgment, just support.
